It’s “ma’am” as in jam.
In a twist sweeter than a jar of jam, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, and Buckingham Palace seem to be in some kind of fruity feud, raising questions about whether either party is preserving their dignity.
As Markle launched her first product under her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, Buckingham Palace didn’t hold back either, rebranding its own royal spread and reminding the public of their own range of jams.
The plot thickened when the Buckingham Palace Shop took to Instagram, showcasing its own strawberry preserve. “Our Strawberry Preserve is made using only the finest berries and is delicious served in a variety of ways,” the caption read. Talk about stirring the pot.

Some online commenters – AKA anyone with eyes – interpreted this as a not-so-subtle dig at Markle’s brand, suggesting the palace was shooting berry barbs.
Markle’s American Riviera Orchard launched last month with the news that both the Duchess and Prince Harry would be debuting their own respective Netflix series. Markle’s will be a lifestyle show all about cooking, friendship, gardening and entertaining while Harry will be trying to convince us that polo is actually for pretty tough guys.
Celebrity endorsements from the likes of Kris Jenner, Abigail Spencer, Mindy Kaling, and more have only added to the buzz surrounding Meghan’s jams, leaving us wondering: is Buckingham Palace boiling over with the stiff jam competition? Either way, it’s the sort of petty energy that we love to watch from the sidelines *sips tea*.
