McDonald’s Australia has announced it will be making a huge change to its beloved breakfast menu. Words by Ella McIlveen.
McDonald’s Australia has confirmed it’s extended its breakfast menu by an extra hour from Wednesday, giving customers more time to get their hands on some of their favourite items.
The fast-food giant revealed that breakfast will now be available across the country until 11:30am, up from the previous 10:30am that had been in place since last year.
While breakfast items will be served in store from 4am to 11:30am, McDonald’s confirmed delivery customers will still need to order before 10:30am, with the later hour applying only to dine-in and takeaway orders.
The change marks the latest adjustment to Maccas’ breakfast offering which has undergone several revisions over the past decade as the company has responded to supply issues including an industry-wide egg shortage in 2024.
In a statement to news.com.au, McDonald’s said the move was “good news for Aussie breakfast lovers”.
“From today, all restaurants will officially serve breakfast until 11.30am,” a spokesperson said. “Your go-to Macca’s brekkie faves are now hanging around a little longer…that’s more time to get your fix, plus something new and bold to try.”
Aussies have welcomed the news, saying it was “about time”.
“This is the news 2026 needed,” wrote one person online.
“I’m thankful for this! But I wish they still had all day breakfast,” said another.
“About time. It covers late morning wakeups,” wrote a third.
In further good news, today Macca’s is launching the limited edition Honey Sriracha Big Brekkie Range nationwide. The range is a new take on the store’s iconic breakfast favourites, pairing the sweetness of honey with the fiery kick of sriracha. The line-up includes the Honey Sriracha Big Brekkie Burger, Honey Sriracha Mighty McMuffin, and Honey Sriracha Mega Brekkie McWrap.
The Big Brekkie burger, which is true to its name, comes with two beef patties, a crispy hash brown, cheese, two rashers of bacon and fried egg inside a sesame seed bun – paired with the new honey sriracha sauce. The McMuffin is the classic you know and love, but this time paired with the new honey hot sauce. The Mega Brekkie McWrap has two sausage patties, two slices of bacon, an egg, a hash brown, cheese, and honey Sriracha all wrapped in a large tortilla.

Amanda Nakad, Marketing Director of Menu and Brand for McDonald’s Australia, said the new items are a “brekkie power trio”.
“Breakfast sets the tone for the whole day, and we know Aussies love bold flavours that fuel them for whatever comes next. With the new Honey Sriracha Big Brekkie Range, we’re bringing a sweet-heat twist to our Big Brekkie classic menu icons, designed to satisfy and make mornings easy, no matter how busy everyone is,” she said. “We’re excited for Aussies to give this delicious breakfast line-up a try – and it’s even better when paired with a freshly brewed McCafé coffee.”
In the US, the fast-food giant has been branded “out of touch” after adding caviar to its menu amid a growing cost of living crisis.
The chain recently released its first-ever “McNugget Caviar kit,” an online only deal that enabled a limited number of customers to access items to level up the classic nugget experience.
Each free of charge box contains a 28 gram tin of Paramount Caviar, crème fraîche and a Mother of Pearl caviar spoon plus a $US25 ($A35) gift card to use to buy fresh chicken nuggets.
But despite the promo being free of charge, the new move hasn’t sat right with customers who argued the deal was in bad taste amid the company’s rising prices.
