Sounds like it’s time for a biscuit royal commission.

Which bickie does the average Aussie love the most? While your brain might immediately scream “Tim Tams!”, or conjure up visions of plate-loads of fluffy pink Iced VoVos, it turns out that our tastes run more to the simple side of the biscuit aisle.

Consumer group Canstar has revealed Australia’s best-rated sweet biscuits after surveying almost 2500 Australians about the sweet biscuit brands they’ve purchased and eaten over the last six months. Respondents were asked to rate each biscuit out of 10 on criteria that included value for money, taste, variety and range, packaging and texture.

What is Australia’s favourite biscuit?

Arnott’s Scotch Finger was rated the highest across all categories, winning five stars for overall satisfaction and four stars for value for money, taste, variety and range, packaging and texture.

Coming in at second place was Arnott’s Classic Assorted, which is confusing, since this assortment pack was discontinued back in 2022, and no longer features on the Arnott’s website. This pack featured Shortbread Creams, Kingstons, Monte Carlos, Scotch Fingers, Butternut Snap and Choc Chip.

At third place was the right-royal Kingston – that nutty, crumbly chocolatey delight that is way too small for any sensible biscuit-loving human of normal adult proportions.

In a move that shook team delicious. to the core, the mighty Monte Carlo came in at an inexcusable fourth place. Upon hearing this news, we all immediately went on strike for morning tea, and to discuss PR strategies that will help restore this icon to its rightful place at the top of the biscuit hierarchy. Where did Tim Tam land? Down at seventh place. Meanwhile, Iced VoVos were left alone and palely loitering down in 15th place. Well below Ginger Nut, which somehow managed to nab the eighth spot. Can you honestly say you have ever met anyone who was ‘overall satisfied’ with a Ginger Nut biscuit? We think not.
