Chef Rene Redzepi has announced the next dates for his coveted annual MAD gathering in 2016.

The world’s best chef announced last night that his respected and long-awaited food symposium MAD will take place over two days in August this year, in Copenhagen.

It’s been 18 months since the last MAD, and chefs, food industry professionals and “foodies” globally have been waiting for news on when the next event would take place. 2015 passed without the annual gathering, which sets out to spark real action and fuel new initiatives in the industry.

MAD5, delicious.com.au can announce, will be about ‘Tomorrow’s Kitchen’. Participants will be pushed to ask themselves two questions: what do we hope our kitchens will be like in the future? And, what can we do today to make those dream a reality?

As they are every year, keynote speakers and presenters will be collaborative and engage the audience to think and take action. MAD5 will be smaller than in past years, giving each speaker more opportunity to delve into their topics, and meet more people around the tent. This year, as well, the public is invited to attend, as well as become active participants instead of passive listeners.

MAD5 will be open to attendees via application. Redzepi and his MAD team are looking for people who are committed to the industry, people who feel the urgency of improving the kitchen in 2016 and also understand the importance of the long term. As always, MAD is open to anyone from the restaurant world, but MAD announced last night it also wants to learn from those outside the trade, and encourage anyone with an interest in changing cooking for the better to apply for a ticket.

They will review applications for general attendance and invite accepted applicants to purchase a ticket to MAD5. Submissions must be made before 14 April. Click here to visit the event site and submit your application.
