Apple, pecan and maple syrup crumble

Ingredients (8)
- 1 cup (150g) plain flour
- 75g chilled unsalted butter, chopped
- 1/4 cup (60g) brown sugar
- 50g pecans, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 750g small Granny Smith apples, peeled, halved lengthways, cored (see note).
- 1/4 cup (60ml) maple syrup, plus extra to drizzle
- Creme fraiche, to serve

1.Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan-forced.

2.Place flour, butter and a generous pinch of salt flakes in a large bowl. Using fingers, rub butter into flour. Add sugar, pecans and cinnamon and stir to combine.

3.Place apple and maple syrup in a 28cm baking dish and toss to combine. Crumble over the flour mixture, scrunching with your fingertips to make 1-2cm rough clusters. Bake for 50 minutes or until golden and bubbly.

4.Stand for 10 minutes before serving with a dollop of creme fraiche and an extra drizzle of maple syrup.
Recipe Notes
You’ll need a 28cm round baking dish.
We used lunchbox-sized apples found in packets in supermarkets. You can use any sized apple; larger ones should be chopped into 2-3cm pieces.
