Descending the steep entrance, you’ll be greeted with sparkling waters rich in marine life and underwater landmarks (shipwrecks included), which tempt snorkellers and divers from near and far.
Flaherty is one of South Australia’s hidden gems – and thanks to being accessible by 4WD only, its seclusion looks set to remain. This picturesque beach is lengthy, stretching seven kilometres, with a sheltered swimming lagoon of perfectly flat water created by a duo of neighbouring sandbanks.
For surfers, one of the best beaches in South Australia is undoubtedly Cactus Beach. Located within the Point Sinclair National Surfing Reserve on the Great Australian Bight, this place is a renowned surfing haven offering two left-hand, and one right-hand break to enjoy.
Nestled among a wilderness protection area, Memory Cove is a proud member of Lincoln National Park. Another beach accessible by 4WD only, the extra effort is worth it; picture wide white sands, shimmering flat water and the odd kangaroo or two hopping along the beachfront.
