Ten days of food, wine, culture and community are spread across the length of Tropical North Queensland – from Cairns and Port Douglas down to Innisfail, Mareeba and Yungaburra in July and August. Degustation dinners, a grand food and wine day, a Gala Ball and the Mareeba Sausage and Salami Festival sit alongside events honouring the immigrants (like my nonno) who shaped the region’s farming history. In 2024, the event drew more than 12,000 attendees. Hard to overstate how much this region loves its Italian heritage. cairnsitalianfestival.com.au
