It’s making a splash.
If taking a dip in the ocean is how you like to cool off, but you want to avoid the crowds then you’re spoiled for choice in New South Wales. There’s no shortage of stunning rock pools or hidden beaches to hit up. And thanks to TikTok user, Nat Explores, one of the best snorkelling and swim spots on the NSW South Coast is going viral on TikTok.

Bushrangers Bay Aquatic Reserve can be found in Shell Cove, just four kilometres south of Shellharbour village centre. For those unfamiliar with the South Coast, Shell Cove is an hour and 40 minute drive from Sydney. It’s here you’ll find Bass Point Reserve, which is where this pristine rock pool is located.
The sheltered dive and snorkelling rock pool covers four hectares, has an inner and outer bay and is home to abundant plant and sea life. One of the most striking features within Bushrangers Bay Aquatic Reserve is a cliff shaped like an amphitheatre. In 10 metres of water, the cliffs are six metres high and contain hundreds of small cavities, which are home to sea urchins and tropical fish.
In terms of facilities, there’s a carpark and toilet available and it’s pretty easy to access. So if you’re looking to avoid the crowds and are up for a road trip to the South Coast (if you live in NSW), then Bushrangers Bay Aquatic Reserve is for you.
Happy swimming!
