Reawaken your inner child with 15 challenge rooms, including games like The Floor is Lava and Twister, a Willy Wonka-style lobby and three themed bars.
Kidults rejoice, the doors open at the world’s first challenge room hotel in Sydney this Friday June 17. And the timing couldn’t be better: after two years (or so) of non-stop adulting there’s never been a better time to unleash your inner child.

The world-first immersive entertainment space – appropriately named ‘Hijinx Hotel’ – comes to us courtesy of Funlab – the legends behind flashback faves like Holey Moley, Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq, and B Lucky and Sons.

Described as a ‘mashup of The Grand Budapest Hotel and Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory’, Hijinx Hotel has been completely decked out in the style of a 5-star luxury hotel, but instead of room service, concierges and comfy beds, guests are treated to 15 different challenge rooms featuring whimsical takes on classic childhood games and activities, including The Floor is Lava and Twister.

Alongside the escape room-like game-driven rooms – in which guests are given four minutes to amass as many points as possible – there’s also nostalgia-packed themed rooms like the Cereal Ball Room and the Titanic Room, a golf course, three new themed bars and an OTT faux hotel lobby.
