We'll be flying through Heathrow just to catch a glimpse of this all-new lounge.

Aside from the giant Toblerones at the duty-free, the best thing about airports is the airport lounge. After all, where else can you have a G&T at 9am without anyone raising an eyebrow?

Now, Qantas has announced plans to “significantly enhance” its network of lounges, both here in Australia and overseas. The airline is dropping a whopping $100 million on an extensive upgrade of existing international and domestic lounges, as well as four brand-new lounges, including a new flagship First Lounge at London’s Heathrow Airport.

Flying kangaroo jetsetters can also look forward to the re-opening of a refreshed Hong Kong International Lounge, a complete refurbishment and expansion of the International Business Lounge in Sydney, an updated and expanded International Business Lounge in Melbourne, and a new Hobart Qantas Club and Broome Regional Lounge. All of this is slated to happen over the next three years.

This is the single biggest investment in the Qantas lounge network in more than a decade, and comes as the airline expands its domestic and international routes and starts to take delivery of next-gen aircraft.

But cool your jet fuel. To gain access you’ll need to be either a Qantas tiered Frequent Flyer (Gold or above), a customer travelling in Business or First Class on a Qantas flight, or an eligible oneworld or partner airline customer.
