Cheese boards and foccacia coming to a cabin near you. Words by James Booth.
Qantas passengers can look forward to trying something new on their next flight as new menus are rolling out on domestic flights for both business class and economy passengers, starting in October.
The menu will feature 70 new items, offered on rotation across six different mealtimes (breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper).
For the economy menu, star dishes include focaccia with chorizo, pesto, bell peppers and Meredith Goats Cheese, a cheese board with Australian saltbush chilli jam, cottage cheese and spinach samosas, triple choc brownie cookies and macadamia granola slice.
Business class menu highlights include smoked salmon bagel cream cheese with capers and pickled onions and english spinach leaves, a salad of miso glazed chicken breast, brown rice and sweet potato and green beans (with sesame dressing), and dark chocolate sour cherry fondant cake.

This isn’t the first food upgrade Qantas has made this year. In May the airline boosted its light snack offering on flights over two hours, adding gourmet brekkie burgers, Mediterranean pizza and cauliflower bites after receiving feedback from customers.
An enhanced spirits selection is also on offer to help business passengers wind down after a long day of meetings, with Campari and Starward Whisky now being served onboard.
Qantas also says that favourites such as Lindt Lindor balls will continue to be offered, with The Flying Roo apparently serving over 2.8 million of the chocolates across the domestic network last year.
Qantas is the only domestic airline to offer food and drink, baggage, and onboard Wi-Fi (on its domestic Boeing 737s and Airbus A330s) included in its economy ticket price.
