A new era of old luxury returns.
St Kilda has welcomed back The Royce hotel following a two-year long refurbishment. The new look draws heavily on the building’s history, which was designed in 1928 and was once one of Australia’s most prestigious automobile showrooms and the original home of Rolls Royce, hence the name: The Royce.
The ’20s were known for opulence and decadence and The Royce doesn’t shy away from that. Take the Lobby Lounge, complete with 14-metre tall curved marble fireplace, which will draw your eye up the high ceiling that is adorned with a stunning two-metre wide chandelier.

There’s a total of 94 guest rooms that range from spacious suites, including balconies with views of Melbourne’s CBD, to six two-storey loft-suites, featuring original cornicing and were once the workshops of Rolls Royce mechanics. Bathrooms are adorned with while Italian Cererra marble, Molton Brown amenities and freestanding baths in the suites.

When you’re feeling peckish head to the Showroom Bar that is defined by its nine-metre long marble bar that will serve an elegant menu of British dishes throughout the day. For cocktail hour there’s no better spot than The Royce’s Library where floor-to-ceiling Zebran timber bookshelves line the walls and hold a curated selection of classic reads.

Breakfast is served in the hotel’s restaurant which sits behind French doors and in a glass conservatory. The al fresco look is complemented by the French Lattice tiled floor and a glass of bubbles in hand.
