It definitely has ‘Where the bloody hell are you?’ beat.
Tourism Australia campaigns are always a topic of hot debate among Aussies. Upon the release of a new campaign people firmly plant their feet in either the ‘love it’ or ‘hate it’ camp. This year, you’ll find us in the ‘love it’ camp.
As international travellers return to our shores after two years of restrictions, ‘Come and Say G’Day’ is a warm welcome back to those we haven’t seen in a while. The $125 million short film introduces the world to the adorably cute Ruby, a CGI-animated, toy souvenir kangaroo who is voiced by Australian actor, Rose Byrne.

With the help of Louie, an American toy unicorn voiced by Will Arnett, Ruby breaks out of a gift shop at the Great Barrier Reef and sets off on a country-wide adventure to get to Uluru. Along the way the duo visit iconic sites like Melbourne’s laneways, Sydney Harbour and Nitmiluk Gorge, just to name a few.
While these types of campaigns aren’t aimed at locals, we like to see (and judge) how our country and its people are being presented to the world. Packed with witty puns, good-natured fun and beautiful shots of our varying landscapes, this campaign doesn’t take itself too seriously (just like us Aussies). And we’re here for it. Let us know what you think in the below poll.
