Belmond launch first-ever Paris to Amalfi route aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

All aboard this once-in-a-lifetime journey.

A new chapter in Belmond’s Italian journey series is coming in 2026. Villegiiatura by Train will see the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, A Belmond Train, Europe, travel from Paris to the Amalfi Coast for the first time. 

The three-night journey will include a stop in the ancient city of Pompeii, where guests can explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site, before arriving at the iconic Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, Amalfi Coast.

Departing Paris on May 4, 2026, guests will be welcomed aboard the legendary blue carriages with Champagne before settling in one of three cabin types: historic twin cabins, elegant Suites, or Grand Suites. In true VSOE fashion, every moment is fabulous. As evening falls on the first night, guests will be treated to an exceptional menu inspired by the regions along the route, followed by cocktails and live piano music in the train’s iconic Bar Car ‘3674’.

On day two, guests will be awake to views of Italian hills over breakfast served in the comfort of their cabins. Lunch is served on board as the train travels south through Italy before arriving in Pompeii. An exclusive guided tour of the ruins of the UNESCO World Heritage Site is provided to guests.

Grand Suite guests receive exclusive access to Casa del Larario Regio V, supported by Caruso’s preservation. Alternatively, culinary enthusiasts can join an intimate cooking class with Executive Chef Armando Aristarco, exploring vibrant Campanian flavors and local produce, including the region’s famous lemons. Those who just want to kick back and relax can settle in to Caruso and take in the views from the newly restyled La Piscina infinity pool, perched 1,000ft above sea overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. It’s here, on night two, guests are invited to a live cooking demonstration hosted by executive chef Armando Aristarco. The evening will unfold by the hotel’s wood-fired pizza oven beside the infinity pool where regional wines, local delicacies and traditional Cilento music will fill the night. 

Guests can choose how they’d like to spend their last day. Whether it’s cruising the Med on a private boat tour to Positano or joining a painting lesson with a local artist at Caruso’s Loggia terrace, before a gala dinner in Caruso’s Wagner Gardens as a fitting finale dinner to this majestic three-night escape. Prices for Villeggiatura by Train start from £8,600 per person based on two guests sharing on the Paris to the Amalfi Coast itinerary, including a shared Historic Cabin on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and two nights in a Superior Garden View Room at Caruso.
