Speculation around White Lotus locations has historically sent fans into a frenzy. When photos of director Mike White in Thailand were snapped before season 3 even began filming TikTok sleuths were quickly scouring whether any Four Seasons hotels – White’s preferred hotel chain – had blocked out reservations for extended periods of time on their websites. It is now confirmed by multiple entertainment media outlets that the location for the upcoming fourth will be Saint Tropez in France, a fitting backdrop for the show considering it’s proximity to the sea and abundance of wealth. Keeping with tradition, Saint Tropez won’t be the only location White shoots at. It is rumoured that the story will unfold along the French Riviera as well as in Paris.

Variety has learned that Mike White will shoot Season 4 of The White Lotus at a 19th-century palace-turned-luxury hotel called the Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez on the Côte d’Azur. While this has not been confirmed by HBO, it does mark a shift in production as White is officially breaking his winning formula and choosing not to shoot at a Four Seasons, as he has for the previous three seasons. The Château de La Messardière, is set within 32 acres of parasol pines, cypress trees and jasmine, is part of Airelles Collection, a group of five-star hotels. A stay here does not come cheap. Suites at the opulent property run from $3,000 to $8,000 (USD) per night. Guests have a spa, restaurants, sport activities, a children’s camp and beach access by Rolls-Royce transfer at their fingertips at Château de La Messardière. If the rumours are true and White also films in Paris, then there is still a chance the director films with Four Seasons as the luxury hotel group has a stunning hotel in the heart of the city, which offers some of the best views of the Eiffel Tower.

Only two actors have been announced for Season 4. Alexander Ludwig, widely known from his role as Björn Ironside in ‘Vikings’, and AJ Michalka, an American actress, musician and singer-songwriter who is best known as one half of the musical duo Aly & AJ. Casting is underway and it is reported that a large number of French actors have auditioned. While we’d love to see some fan favourites return – like Armond (Murray Bartlett), the unhinged hotel manager from Season 1 and the magnetic Daphne Sullivan (Meghann Fahy) from Season 2 – it’s unlikely. Only three cast members have appeared in more than one season.

While no release date has officially been set, we do know that a new season was confirmed in January and it is suspected that filming will begin in April and wrap in October 2026, so it seems likely Season 4 will be released in the first half of 2027.
