Merivale's Tokyo-inspired Totti's to open this month on Sydney's Bridge Street

Good Luck Restaurant Lounge will take over the coveted 11 Bridge Street space.

Justin Hemmes’ Merivale is showing no signs of slowing down, with a new Tokyo-inspired Totti’s to open April 24 on Bridge Street in Sydney’s CBD.

Good Luck Restaurant Lounge is a nod to head chef Mike Eggert’s former pop-up restaurant, Good Luck Pinbone, which leaned into Italian-Chinese fusion.

At the new Bridge Street space, the concept is much more Japanese-inspired, particularly the vibrant and experimental cuisine of Tokyo.

“Pinbone, leaned into a mix of Italian and Chinese cuisine but Good Luck takes more inspiration from Tokyo. Think Totti’s but then add soy, dashi, vinegar with fresh herbs, citrus and chilli. It’s just a fun name and who doesn’t take a gamble when opening a venue?” Eggert said.

The venue itself is the basement of Neil Perry’s former Eleven Bridge nee Rockpool Est. 1989 and has been the breeding ground for some of Australia’s finest culinary talent including Kylie Kwong (Lucky Kwong), Phil Wood (Ursula’s), and Peter Robertson (Flying Fish).

The vision for the Bridge Street site is to give the energy of an avant-garde 1970’s underground Tokyo scene, with large fish tanks and a mix of private and semi-private dining rooms.

Eggert is clearly excited for the new venture. “It’s going to be a fun vibe, maybe a bit wild but not stuffy or elitist. It’s got that feel where you know you’ll lose track of time…it’s just great food with a side of party.”

Good Luck Restaurant Lounge will open April 24, 2024 at 11 Bridge Street, Sydney.
