The Surry favourite has just confirmed its final service.

Surry Hills favourite 4Fourteen will be closing its doors at the end of the August, owner and chef Colin Fassnidge has confirmed. The restaurant world moves quick, with the venue’s replacement already announced as the first Sydney venture for Jessi Singh; Don’t Tell Aunty.

4Fourteen’s lease will end at the end of August with Fassnidge confirming that he won’t be renewing. The chef cites his other businesses as the reason for the closure; responsibilities which include a recurring role as judge on My Kitchen Rules, as well as Banksia Bistro and Terminus Hotel.

“We’re busy over at Banksia Bistro and we’ve built the private dining room. We have different chefs coming in every week as part of our Tuesday night dinner program, and we’re also doing the whole pigs like we used to do at Four In Hand. There’s all sorts happening. Oh and I’m filming too,” he explains of his never-not-busy schedule.

But fans of 4Fourteen will still have ample opportunity to visit the Surry Hills establishment for a final meal. Fassnidge has confirmed that 4Fourteen’s last service will be held on Saturday August 18.

“I read that we’re open until the 25th August, but we’re definitely only open until the 18th,” Fassnidge explains. “I don’t know who’s going to be cooking if it’s another week, because we’ll be gone!” he jokes.
So what can we expect in the last few weeks of 4Fourteen? Fassnidge is planning to bring back a number of the restaurant’s classic dishes: “We’ll have the chicken bread, the crispy chicken wing tortilla, house-cured salmon, the ice-cream sandwich – all the favourites,” he says.
But to enjoy these dishes one last time, you’re going to need to be quick as bookings are filling up fast. Head to 4fourteen.com.au to book a spot, before it’s too late – we’ll see you there.
