A breath of fresh air has landed by the Brisbane River.
After almost a decade standing vacant, Brisbane’s heritage-listed Naldham House has re-opened as a multi-level hospitality space. Under the leadership of hospitality group DAP & Co., (The Gresham Bar, Popolo, Walter’s Steakhouse and Wine Bar), the 1888-built Naldham House is now home to a pan-European restaurant and a swanky late-night supper club. Introducing: Naldham House Brasserie & Terrace, and Club Felix.
On the ground level, behind Naldham’s signature stark-white exterior is a kaleidoscopic dining room, blending jewel tones of ruby and emerald with dozens of patterns and textures. With geometric-patterned and tropical bird-embossed textiles covering the booth seating, and sunburst velvet curtains that secret away waiters’ stations, every inch of the Brasserie & Terrace is a feast for the eyes.

As for a feast on the plate? Executive chef Douglas Keyte (Grill Americano) has curated three menus for the brasserie, the terrace, and Club Felix. In the brasserie dining room, you’ll find mixed crudo dressed with tarragon and cabernet balsamic; beetroot tart with goat cheese, ricotta and hazelnut; beef cheek bourguignon pithivier, lapping in a pool of jus; and noisettes of Margra lamb on a bed of lentils. There are also larger dishes for sharing like the market fish meunière with lemon butter and capers; and a generous bone-in steak.
Outside on the terrace, enjoy glimpses of the Brisbane River and a menu of “casual” snacks like chicken skin crisps with whipped cod roe and caviar; potato and mortadella croquettes with adobo sauce; niçiose salad; marinated prawns on toast; steak frites; and a seriously luxe Wagyu cheeseburger.

The terrace is also a great spot to sip on a cocktail or three, with its dedicated spritz menu and signature cocktails designed around seasonal, local ingredients and lighter spirits.
Upstairs at the swingin’ Club Felix, Yves Klein blue velvet, plush seating and amber-hued wooden tabletops contrast with a painstakingly restored silky oak bar running the length of the club. Snack plates include a selection of salumi with gnocco fritto; jamon and Comté toasties; fried whiting sandwich fingers with herb mayonnaise; potato pavé fingers topped with caviar and crème fraiche; and salted cod croquettes make for ideal gossip food, best served with Champagne.
Naldham House Brasserie & Terrace and Club Felix are located at 33 Felix St, Brisbane City; naldhamhouse.com.au.
