You chews, you lose.
Remember the Europe Sesame Bar? That chewy, seedy treat stocked by many an old-school school canteen? Well, it is no more. The decision has been made to discontinue its sale in Australian supermarkets.
The Cadbury-owned company has confirmed to several news outlets that the bar is being axed due to “very low” sales. Naturally, the interwebs has reacted in a manner entirely out of proportion to the scale of the announcement, especially when you consider that most people probably haven’t eaten one in about 20 years.
But then again, a treat that evokes such fond childhood memories probably does deserve this kind of attention. After all, who among us hasn’t spent many a happy hour working caramel-coated Sesame Bar seeds out from our back molars after recess?
Personally, we’re still reeling from the loss of Starburst lollies, but there is some comfort to be had – we still have the Nougat Honey Log and the Summer Roll. For now…
