Could you pass me that giant spoon?
Adore them (yes!) or abhor them (madness), the Cadbury Creme Egg is as familiar a fixture at Easter as hot cross buns, or disappointing weather.
Now Cadbury chocolatiers have taken this sweet, sweet chocolatey treasure and elevated it to the god-like status it truly warrants – building the world’s largest-ever Cadbury Creme Egg.

The spectacular egg stands at a height of three feet, or 91cm, which is roughly the same height as an emperor penguin. It weighs a hefty 45kg, or about as much as a big baby hippo. It’s the real deal, too – the egg is made with a real chocolate shell and is filled with the same fondant used in regular creme eggs. The outer foil wrapping has even been lovingly replicated in red, purple and gold.

This eggs-traordinary feat was accomplished by chocolatiers Terry Collins and Dawn Jenks, who spent two days working on the creation. It is now being displayed at Cadbury World in Birmingham, UK, until April 27.
But just as I was putting in my leave application and trying to remember where I’d left my passport, I was crushed to discover that no one will actually get to eat this gigantic goog of gooey gorgeousness. Collins revealed as much when interviewed on BBC Radio 5 Live, although he did admit that he was “tempted to have a nibble” when he was building it. He is only human, after all.

How many calories in a Cadbury Creme Egg?
A standard 40g Cadbury Creme Egg contains approximately 177 calories. This means that a 45kg creme egg would contain around 198,450 calories. Seems manageable.
