Some exciting news just out of Las Vegas – Australian chef Neil Perry has taken out the Icon Award at the 2024 World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards.
The prestigious accolade highlights outstanding contributions worthy of global recognition to the hospitality industry, with Perry following in the footsteps of previous winners Andoni Luis Aduriz in 2023 and Wawira Njiru in 2022.
The Margaret chef has been recognised for his continued efforts in advocating for the local food industry and its many esteemed farmers, producers and growers, as well for his work in the charity space, raising more than over $2 million and feeding more than 800,000 people.
“Receiving the Icon Award in recognition of my 40-year career as a chef and restaurateur is an incredible honour,” Perry said.

“Having peers and diners from around the world recognise my place and achievements in this amazing industry, which has so many distinguished and worthy personalities, is truly humbling and something I never anticipated.”
Culinary achievements aside – Perry has founded 10 restaurants across Sydney, Melbourne and Perth – the former Rockpool Bar & Grill entrepreneur has been involved in multiple charities including the Starlight Children’s Foundation, OzHarvest, and Hope Hospitality Foundation.
