Go on. Spice up mum’s life.

Sure, a family lunch or posh high tea is nice and all, but what if poor old Mum wants to cut loose this Mother’s Day? KFC has decided to take matters into its own hands, offering a decidedly different kind of Mother’s Day celebration where there isn’t a doily or servo station bunch of flowers in sight.

The KFC Habanero High Tea is a world-first event for mums that need more than a handmade card and a ‘thanks’ this Mother’s Day. Sydney mums can look forward to an afternoon of good times and great food with their bestie at Watsons Bay Hotel, where they’ll be served with free-flowing Habanero Hot & Crispy chicken, Popcorn Chicken, nuggets and chips, as well as other goodies. There’ll also be DJs pumping your mum’s favourite bangers all afternoon long (no Baby Shark here) and plenty of drinks flowing.

The inspiration behind the event came from research commissioned by KFC that found more than half (51%) of Aussie mums agree their ‘feel-good’ (dopamine) levels are lower this year compared to a year ago. One in five (18%) mums also admitted to organising their own Mother’s Day celebrations every year, with six in 10 (62%) saying they’ve had to organise it themselves at least once. Ouch. And this woman gave birth to you, people.

Further, almost 60 percent of mums named enjoying a delicious feed as their number-one Mother’s Day activity, with more than a quarter (27%) saying fried chicken was a top food they’d like to indulge in on the day. Respect.

It’s hoped that a hefty dose of Habanero Hot & Crispy will deliver a ‘habanero high’ that’ll help lift Mum out of the doldrums, and give her renewed optimism to keep on being the excellent human being she always is.
