Time to update your la dolce vitae.

You’ve been in training for this your entire life, and you never realised it until this very moment. The 2025 Tiramisu World Cup is on its way, and for one day only, you have the chance to apply as an official judge.

The Tiramisu World Cup really is actually a thing, and the main event will be held on October 10-12 in Treviso, Italy – the birthplace of tiramisu. Initial rounds take place around the world, and the competition is open to non-professional cooks only – even if you’ve worked in a restaurant kitchen for six months over the past two years, you’re out of the running.

Competitors can choose from two categories – the original recipe, for which six basic ingredients are supplied (ladyfingers, mascarpone, eggs, coffee, cocoa powder and sugar); or a creative recipe, in which it’s compulsory to use mascarpone, eggs, coffee and cocoa powder, along with a limited number of additional ingredients. The World Cup is split into three stages – the selections, the semifinals and the final, at which a World Champion will be crowned in each category. And if you’re lucky (and smart), you could help to decide who wins.

How to apply to be a judge at the Tiramisu World Cup

On September 13, from 10am until midnight Italian time, you can take a 15-question test on the competition rules (they’re pretty full-on) to apply to be a judge during the selection rounds. There are 100 spots available, and only the fastest and most accurate respondees will be selected. If you’re successful, that’s all you’ll get – there’ll be no travel or accommodation expenses provided, and you don’t get paid. But for the chance to spend two days eating world-class tiramisu, we’re thinking it’s worth the plane fare.
