Shoppers have been sent into a frenzy after discovering a supermarket item that’s been described an exact replica of Sizzler’s cheese toast. Words by Jasmine Kazlauskas.
Many of us who grew up in Australia still remember the delicious aroma that wafted from a fresh batch of cheese toast during a family trip to Sizzler.
Hearts broke around the country in 2020, after the iconic chain restaurant announced it was shutting the remaining nine of its branches for good.

Ever since, Sizzler cheese toast enthusiasts have been trying their best to find the perfect replacement for the delicious carb-laden cheesy delight, that was both free and unlimited to restaurant patrons who dined at the buffet.
Now Aussie foodies have been sent into a frenzy after a woman on TikTok named Dannii Rodgers claims to have found the “perfect dupe” for the nostalgic Sizzler cheese toast – and you can get it at your local supermarket for $6.
@danniirodgers Replying to @Breeahn took me a while to find it (cheers Coles) but definitely approved by me and the baby 🙏🏻 #sizzlerbread #pregnancycravings #pregnantlife #firsttrimestrepregnancy ♬ original sound – Dannii Rodgers
“So, I’ve been told that this bread tastes exactly like Sizzler bread,” she said in the video.
“If you know, you know. Let’s give it a go.”
She then pulls out the La Famiglia brand “cheesy pan bread” from the packet, which many have said is “identical” to the Sizzler cheese toast.
“This is what we’re working with. It says you can put it on the grill or in the pan,” she said, before taking it out to take a bite.
“Definitely the same vibe, and it’s good.”

The woman’s excited viewers shared in her thrill of finding a dupe for Sizzler’s cheese toast, with many vowing to run out to their local supermarket to get their hands on some.
“Aldi has this and I put it in the air fryer for six minutes, it’s so good!” one person said.
“I tried to find this at Woolworths, but they were sold out. But I got some at Coles” another commented.
“I’m pregnant and I’ve forgotten all about these as I use to have them a lot,” one woman said. “Now since I’ve been reminded, it’s a new craving. Ahhh! I need to get!”
“OMG this stuff is amazing,” another said. “I’m addicted. It’s so good.”
An “easy and delicious” recipe for the famous cheese toast went viral last year, for fans who wanted to whip up the tasty creation from scratch.
A man on TikTok known as “AirFryerGuy” claims to have perfected his replicated version of Sizzler’s cheese toast.

As most Aussies would agree, he starts off by saying the best part of Sizzler was its cheesy toast.
“So I’m going to make it for you in the air fryer,” he continues.
He begins by cutting a loaf of white Bakers Delight bread ($4.20) into thick slices.
He then mixes softened butter and Coles parmesan cheese ($4.40) in a bowl.
He then scoops a tablespoon of the mixture and spreads it evenly on both sides of the bread before placing it in an air fryer for 5-7 minutes at 200C.
To ensure both sides are golden and crispy, he flips the slice over halfway through cooking.
The end result? Well, it looks almost identical to the Sizzler cheese bread – just ask some of his almost one million TikTok followers who have deemed it better than the original.
“Okay I hardly ever eat white bread but damn this looks tasty,” one person commented.
“I’m making this. Loved Sizzler,” another wrote.
“OMG yes and the crunch sound did it for me,” a third added.
