This week, a $90 million landmark hotel has opened in Perth, bringing with it the soon-to-open Hyde Perth Kitchen + Cocktails.
Having a hotel named after you is kind of a big deal. Really, having anything named after you is pretty cool. And the namesake of Perth’s new Art Series Hotel joins the ranks of many brilliant Australian artists that have been hand-picked by The Art Series team. The namesake of the new Perth hotel is Matt Adnate, one of the country’s best-known street artists and mural painters.
The hotel group, which is known for not only creating stays that boast unique designs, but also for the original artworks (by the chosen, namesake artist) that are hung throughout.

The Adnate sports a 27-storey ‘Mega Mural’ on its west side – the largest the artists has painted on any building. And, we’re told, guests can expect to spot some famous Perth faces on the mural. A laneway mural will also span 50 metres, alongside an imposing staircase mural.
“I see this hotel as a beautiful canvas to tell a story about Perth’s cultural and community connection through portraiture and traditional elements,” Adnate said.
“My Mega Mural features three large-scale portraits. It will represent the past through the cultural representation in the subject’s dressing elements, the present with contemporary faces, and the future as the subjects are the youth of today.”
Two originals and up to 650 reproductions of 30 of Matt’s most recognised works from around the world will grace the walls of the 250-room hotel.
