Not sure about the lickable wallpaper though.
If you’ve ever dreamed of living in a chocolate factory, then you’ll definitely want to add this new Willy Wonka themed hotel room in the UK to your post-pandemic hit list.
The Wonka themed room in the English coastal resort town of Bournemouth comes complete with unlimited sweet treats, a chocolate fountain, lickable wallpaper and a chocolate-filled bathtub on request.

Created by The Chocolate Box Hotel, in collaboration with booking site LateRooms, the scrumdiddlyumptious stay brings to life the 1971 film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, just in time for the film’s 50th anniversary.
Along with non-stop Wonka themed candy, including gumballs, gobstoppers, chocolates and other sweet treats, the room will also feature a stack of other quirky inclusions.

There’ll be chocolate-scented toiletries in the bathroom, as well as purple robes and slippers, inspired by Gene Wilder’s iconic violet outfit from the film. Even the room keys have been shaped to resemble golden tickets.
The room sleeps two people and overnight stays are priced from £200 (or around $380 Australian dollars). Although the opening date is yet-to-be confirmed, there’s speculation that it’s likely to line up with the film’s 50th anniversary on August 12th.

Since a visit to the UK is off-the-cards for us Aussies right now – sob – there’s absolutely no shame in succumbing to a FOMO-fuelled Veruca Salt-style temper tantrum. Here’s hoping the suite will be a roaring success, so we can check it out when international travel resumes.

In the meantime, we can all satisfy our unfulfilled ambitions of becoming an eccentric chocolate baron with these Wonka inspired recipes. And if that doesn’t work, there’s always dulce de leche espresso martinis.
