If we were to assign a theme to cafes in 2023 it would be: fashion. Halfway through 2023, we’ve already welcomed the Prada Caffe at Harrods in London, Marimekko cafe in Helsinki and LV Dream by Louis Vuitton in Paris. 

And now we have a tropical take, Dior Cafe. The French fashion house will be taking over the sleek Ember Beach Club at One&Only Desaru Coast for eight weeks of fashion, craftsmanship, elegance and delicious dishes. 

The Dior Cafe at Ember Beach Club will be plating up Mediterranean-inspired dishes that feature hearty summer flavours that pay homage to Malaysia’s fresh local produce with a French twist. The menu was created by Dior Malaysia chef partner Raymond Tham, the executive chef of popular Kuala Lumpur restaurants Beta KL and Skillet @ 163 and is the first Malaysian chef to be appointed by Dior to curate culinary offerings for its pop-ups. 

When it comes to the fit-out, the pop-up is covered from floor to ceiling in Dior’s signature toile de Jouy print, but with a tropical twist. The fabric pattern has been reimagined with a palette of soft shades, from pink to grey, and cream to blue. Hello, summer. 

Along with stunning sea and poolside dining, the pop-up store will be showcasing the Dioriviera capsule collection designed by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, featuring iconic bags such as the Lady D-Lite, which has been given the summer toile de Jouy treatment. 

Guests of the pop-up can also look forward to alfresco Dior-themed mahjong and table tennis. Alternatively, kick back on the poolside cabanas and soak in the summer sun. Check us in, stat. 

If you can’t make it to Malaysia, you can still see and shop the Dioriviera summer capsule collection at the Dior boutique on Castlereagh Street in Sydney CBD. The sun-kissed collection includes unique items like a yoga mat, surfboard, parasol and beach games, all of which will brighten the coldest of winter days.
