Time to fall back into our cooler weather routines.
‘Winter is coming’. For the Starks of Winterfell, this was an ominous warning filled with all the uncertainty of what terrifying threats might be lurking beyond The Wall. But for those of us who live in the southeastern Australian states and territories of the real world, we have one very clear signal of the seasons shifting – when it’s time to put the clocks back.
Daylight savings is soon coming to an end, which means no more long, balmy evenings or leaving work in the daylight. Instead, the nights will draw in early, and we’ll begin to revert to our winter ways, of cosy evenings in and hearty serves of comfort food.

When does daylight savings end in 2026?
This year, daylight sayings ends at 3am on Sunday, April 5, or Easter Sunday. At this hour, the clocks will turn back to 2am local standard time. That means an extra hour of sleep, for anyone who’s feeling a bit tired.

Daylight saving time is observed by New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory. Sadly Winterfell doesn’t get daylight saving time. Which is a shame. It could probably have helped them lighten up a little.
