Supermarket giant Woolworths has announced today that they will offer contactless floral deliveries for the first time, as families Australia-wide prepare to celebrate a socially distant Mother’s Day this weekend.
Woolworths will utilise delivery partners Uber, Sherpa and Yellow in order to fulfil the expected demand for floral deliveries in the lead up to Mother’s Day.
Contactless flower delivery will be available on selected bouquets across Woolworths’ 400 stores, while an additional 700 stores will also offer pick up on floral orders.
Mother’s Day is the supermarket chain’s biggest season all year for flowers. The supermarket expects to sell nearly half a million floral arrangements just this week. The Mother’s Day holiday outdoes Valentine’s Day for flower sales by more than 55%.
Woolworths Managing Director, Claire Peters said; “We know this Mother’s Day will feel different to previous years; some families have had more quality time with their mums than ever before… while others have gone weeks or months without being able to hug their mum.
“But it’s more important than ever to celebrate mums, especially those who are working long hours to keep our communities safe and healthy.”
To help ease the cost of celebrating, the supermarket chain has also announced they will cut prices across a range of popular boxed chocolates this week, including Ferrero Rocher, Cadbury Roses, Guylian Excellence, and Lindt Lindor.
