Sorry, Nigella. Can’t talk right now. Martha’s here.
Fervid foodies were already fan-girling hard enough with the news that Nigella Lawson will be coming to Vivid Sydney this May to host a series of dinners. But this revelation has quickly paled in comparison to the bombshell announcement that the legendary cook, author, lifestyle icon, self-made billionaire and former jailbird Martha Stewart will be swinging by, too.
Stewart will be joining the festival for an exclusive, one-off In Conversation event, as part of the Vivid Global Storytellers series. The series is designed to bring together the world’s brightest minds and creative leaders to offer new forms of interactive engagement and inspire new ways of thinking. Previous speakers include Jennifer Coolidge, Amy Poehler, Baz Luhrmann and Spike Lee.

During the event, Stewart will reflect on her remarkable career, which all began in 1982 with the publication of her first book, Entertaining. She has since published 100 more books, won a bunch of Emmy Awards, graced the cover of a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, and even been the subject of a Netflix documentary.
It’s also been promised that Stewart will share “candid insights” into her most memorable moments in popular culture (*fans self with crisply ironed linen napkin*), as well as what it really takes for a woman in the public eye to stay relevant for more than four decades. Looking good in jodhpurs at 83 most likely helps.

“I have made some wonderful memories traveling to Australia over the years, so I am thrilled to return for Vivid Sydney,” Stewart says. “The conversation will be fun and honest, covering many aspects of my life and career.
I’m always looking for inspiration when I travel, so I’m excited to see what Sydney has to offer.”
No word yet on whether Snoop Dogg will be joining her, chillin’ like a villain on Sydney Harbour, but can only imagine the epic global coverage that Vivid would receive if he did. Fo’ shizzle.
In Conversation with Martha Stewart will take place at the International Convention Centre Sydney on Wednesday, May 28. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 4 at 9am AEDT at vividsydney.com
