Wake me up before you cocoa.
Cue the fireworks and iron your stretchiest dessert pants, because (restriction changes pending) Victoria’s indulgent Hot Chocolate Festival is back this August.
Run by three of Victoria’s best-known chocolateries, the month-long hot chocolate festival is a celebration of all things hot, tasty and dripping with sweet, chocolatey goodness.
There’s 31 epic hot chocolate flavours to try during the month of August, with eight new combos released each week. Crafted from couverture chockie, each one features lush artisanal ingredients and a massive faceplant-worthy homemade marshmallow topper.

For the sweet and savoury connoisseurs, there’s Binge Night, which is a milk chocolate creation, incorporating a mini marshmallow almond magnum, caramel popcorn and a chocolate marshmallow.
For the Caramilk devotees, there’s the Tim Tam Caramel Bomb, a caramelised white hot chocolate topped with a hand-rolled milk chocolate sphere just made for melting and dunking.
For the grown-ups, there’s the boozy Snickertini, which pairs Baileys and vodka, and the Tipsy Chook, a decadent choc orange creation featuring a Cointreau-filled truffle in the form of an adorably tiny handcrafted chocolate chicken.
There’s even a Devonshire cronut laden berry hot chocolate topped with a cronut, jam and cream, which may even get Nanna’s tick of approval.

There’s plenty of under eighteen-safe varieties too, including the Lady Bug, Minion Madness and Finding Nemo.
On top of the chock-full IRL flavour fest, the organisers have made DIY hot chocolate kits available for home delivery (from $6.50 plus delivery) to those chocolate fiends who can’t be there in person.
Although some of the flavours are only available at the venues, most can be ordered online as DIY kits. You can even go into the draw to win your body weight in chocolate, just by voting on your favourite flavour.
The Hot Chocolate Festival runs from August 1st to August 31st at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery, Mornington Peninsula Chocolaterie and Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery.
