Check in and check out a better version of yourself.

There have long been hotels with wellness offerings and programs. But until now, there haven’t been many where the sole/soul focus is re-engineering a better, stronger, fitter, calmer you from the ground up. Or should that be from the penthouse down? The SIRO One Zaa’beel is now welcoming guests in need of a reset. Aside from appearing like the gleaming futuristic bench press of the gods, it’s what’s on the inside where the transformative magic is set to lie.

Aside from treating recovery as seriously as exercise – long a hallmark of the way elite athletes train – what really catches the traveller’s eye here are the four other signature experiences: fitness, nutrition, sleep and mindfulness. And while other health-focused hotels have tapped into these pillars, no one has done it quite like this. For a start, each of the rooms is fully soundproof, so you can grunt away without upsetting the rest of the gym and are kitted out with recovery equipment, a dedicated stretching bar (not the alcoholic kind), an in-room refuel bar (also not the alcoholic kind), personalised in-room modular dining (your guess is as good as ours on that one) and access to virtual classes.

Things get kicked up a notch in the dedicated Fitness Suites that come with their own gym and the Recovery Suites have their own treatment rooms. Even the curtains are apparently aligned with guests’ circadian rhythms to combat jet lag.

Should your wellness journey take you out of your comfort zone (read: room) there is a Fitness and Recovery Lab that covers a square kilometre over two levels. You and I would call it a gym but that’s by the by. Here, there’s a Pilates studio, Spin studio, whatever an Experience Box happens to be and courts that can be reconfigured to volleyball, tennis, padel, squash and badminton.

There’s also a dedicated meditation garden to get your ‘omm’ on and if you want to go deeper the SIRO Wellness Pod, there’s breathing, meditation, visualisation, and coaching sessions on hand. All of which begs the question. Does SIRO One Za’abeel actually pull this off? Considering it’s from the same team behind Atlantis, The Palm Dubai, we think so.
