Pass the tissues.

Qantas has a new inflight safety video and it’s a goodie. The national airline has become synonymous with its beautifully shot inflight safety videos. In 2020, to mark the airline’s 100th birthday, Qantas revealed a stunning eight-minute safety video that acted as a timeline, showcasing the airline through the decades of its operation. It became an instant hit. That iconic video has now been replaced with one that is sure to pull at the heartstrings.

The 2024 video features Qantas pilots, cabin crew and customer service agents and Frequent Flyers sharing the safety information from their “magic place” destinations from Litchfield National Park to Lapland.

Some of the stories shared capture how travel for some is not just a luxury, but a way to connect with people. Anyone who has lived abroad understands the pure elation felt when reconnecting with family and friends overseas and it’s perfectly captured in the video through the Campanale’s journey to Rome, Italy. The Qantas Frequent Flyers head to the Eternal City to surprise the grandparents at their favourite restaurant. Maybe I’m a huge softie, but how does one not tear up when seeing a kid run to their grandparent and then watch said grandparent break out in tears of joy? Someone pass me the tissues.

Of course, the video is first and foremost about safety and adequately covers the important safety procedures, but Qantas makes those safety directions all the more memorable through its creative storytelling.
